RELOCATING WITH CHILDREN A MAMA'S GUIDE TO RELOCATION

Let me be frank, I have 6 children, I have moved 8 times in the previous 12 years encompassing the East Coast (as well as a 3 year move to Hawaii) of the United States. I have moved with babies, young children, as well as tweens and teenagers.

Keep Them Included! If you can, take them house searching, or have them "discover houses" on realty websites. Let them seem like they are a significant part of the relocation.

For the Littles-- I constantly check out the lots of ranges of" We are Moving" books readily available along with coloring pages here's a moving coloring page:

Other methods to keep them included:

When you find the house you are going to purchase-- ask your real estate agent for the flooring plan-- have the kids organize their room-- where will the bed go? You can incorporate a measuring activity into it as well-- will particular furnishings fit, etc

. B. Have them prepare a going away party-- It will have them looking forward to something other than the real feeling of moving

C. Develop a scrapbook-- take a photo of all the old spaces and write down your finest memory that happened in every one.

D. Provide a really unique box to load-- just for their essential items

Other Recommendations which is not nearly as essential:

1. Pack a transparent bin for the opening night at your new home that contains anything you may require for that very first day at the brand-new house. It's sort of like an outdoor camping bag-- it will contain TP, towel, toothbrush, treats, sheets/cover, a couple their explanation of dishes/cups, money, iPad ...

2. Your kids may be overwhelmed, it's natural. And you probably will be too. If you can get somebody to see them during the real relocation this may be a good idea. Older kids can help unpack boxes-- just make certain you identify what boxes they need to be opening in advance. One time my children began opening my boxes and they opened one that had their teeth from the "tooth fairy." Think of the surprise of my 8 years of age who discovered a box of teeth-- that required great deals of discussing!!

3. Whenever we moved somewhere we always got a large map of the area and put locations that were close-by on it. When we moved to Orlando-- we put Disney World, Sea World, Busch Gardens but likewise other places like "school." "bank," Whole Foods, etc.

4. Employ an excellent mover. Getting a good mover that comes on time Bonuses and is arranged with an expert crew is key. You do not want to be stressed at this time!
